The idea of a journal of the Amicale which is quite different from a newsletter was already in germ
from the creation of the Amicale in December 1989.

While the newsletter was mainly intended to transmit information
between associations, the journal offered authors of substantial articles on Taiji quan
a space of expression open to all practitioners, whether or not they belong to the Amicale.

The name WEN WU originated with the journal management association in 1994
and the first issue will be released in September 1996.

François Schosseler's editorial for the first issue presents the spirit of the review.

WENWU n ° 6 - A TEN YEARS COLLECTIVE ADVENTURE

The new translation of the Classics contained in the Little Red Book published by the Amicale in 2015 is the work of a group of people with diverse skills and very far from knowledge of the Chinese language for the most part. It is the originality of this group which allowed a surprising result for anyone who knows a little Chinese.

Not satisfied with this performance, the people involved wanted to share their moments of lively consultation to explain their choices of translation or interpretation. Hence these four new years of collective work to put into shape what remained of the long pages of notes taken from the recording of oral exchanges.

For me, this titanic work is a work of great utility for any practitioner of our internal disciplines, whether or not he is a connoisseur of the Chinese language because he will have all the elements to make his own interpretation of the texts according to his very practice. if this aspect was not really addressed.

This book is a mine of information on the Chinese language and especially on the way in which the characters can be interpreted. It is not necessary to be initiated to use the book which puts within everyone's reach a treasure of knowledge that will help the practitioner to realize the scope of his practice with regard to classical texts. A practice without the support of its foundations scleroses very quickly.

After a history of the genesis of the Classics and the presentation of the context of the translation work, we come to the translation and then to the comments. Each classic text is taken in the form of a table with four columns side by side which contain from left to right: Previous translation of the Little Red Book, Chinese and Pinyin which includes all the text word for word, New translation, Comments. At the end of the book, a glossary contains the most important terms related to the practice of Taiji quan.

This written publication is accompanied by an oral version of the Chinese texts and their French translation, recorded on CD. This CD completes the approach of these texts, originally intended to be read aloud or chanted during practice.

I strongly encourage all practitioners of the internal arts to bring WENWU 6 to explore the depths of their discipline in order to draw all the subtleties.

This deep relationship is expressed by the proverbial expression Wen Wu where Wen refers to civil affairs, the arts, and scholarly excellence in general, while Wu refers to military affairs and the capability in this area. Hence the pictorial translation of this expression by La Plume et le Poing. The title of this journal thus announces its ambition: to offer a reflection that nourishes the practice to allow the latter to go beyond pure technique. In general, the journal proposes to publish articles, essays or works of fiction concerning Taiji Quan but also any other field which presents an implicit or explicit relationship with Taiji Quan… ”
